Sounding Circle: Taxpayers To Fund Church Building

The ACLU reports that the Bush Adminstration is pushing for a change in a federal rule at the Department of Housing and Urband Development (HUD) as part of it's faith-based initiative.

This rule change would allow taxpayer dollars to be used to fund construction of churches and other religious buildings such as schools.

Where would the money come from? Well, under the Bush plan it is earmarked from the same fund that pays for housing for single parents, the homeless and AIDS patients.

Incredible but true.

"This is probably the most clearly unconstitutional aspect of the White House's faith-based initiative that we've seen up to this point," said Christopher E. Anders, an ACLU Legislative Counsel.

I am Pastor. S.Charles Sthothirakani.I greet you in the most holy name of our LORD and saviour JESUS CHRIST. First of all I would like to thank the lord almighty from the depth of my heart for giving me this opportunity to share with you about our ministry.
Our church name is REHOBOTH APOSTALIC CHURCH.Since 2005 we are doing the ministry at Kalampalayam, in Coimbatore district,Tamil nadu state, South India . Initially we started the Kalampalayam services in a rented house on Feb 2005. On June 2006 the house owner asked us to vacate the house without any pre-notice. No one else was willing to give house for rent to conduct the services. In that critical situation we knelt on our knees asking the lord to give us a own land. The lord heared our prayers and enabled us to buy 8-cent land at Kovai garden, Pachapalayam on November 2006. Some of the government staff coming to our church took loan in their name and helped us to buy the land for church. We put up a shed with tin-sheet for the roof and the coconut leaves for wall. From February 2007 we started conducting services in the shed. Now around 100 people are coming to our church. (Majority of our church believers are daily coolie workers at farm.)
I would like to say a few words about this area. The area where we are doing the ministry is the toughest area in this location. Many pastors had tried to place a church and do ministry at Kalampalayam. But they could not succeed through. Because majority of the people in this place are much into their traditional things and people who are against christianity. They have beaten up and stoned many servants of the lord who tried to do the ministry in this area. I thank god for using me in the midst of this kind of situation.
As I had informed you in my previous paragraph our church believers almost 99% of them are daily coolie workers in the farm. Most of them are newly converted .God is using us mightily in this area for the extension of HIS kingdom. Our church is roofed with tin sheets and the walls are just the coconut leaves and the floor is just mud we are using only the plastic sheets to spread and sit on it to worship.Behind our church it’s fully forest area so many a times even highly poisonous snakes, scorpions and lot of insects do enter into the church. But,after the Orisa problem the police officials have told us to remove the wall which is made up of coconut leaves, because it will get fired easily if any anti-christians acts against the church. So,for time being leaving the roof with tin sheets, just to put the foundation and build the walls of the church and complete it the engineer has told an estimation of Rs.8 lacks. We have no financial support.
If JESUS leads your heart to support our ministry financially we kindly request you to help us from your part which would help us to buy may be few bags of cement /a load of bricks/a load of sand etc.If a single soul get added to this church, surely even you will be rewarded for that from the LORD ALMIGHTY.Please forward this mail to your friends and close ones. Please support us with your valuable prayers also.

YANIDHI COMMUNITY
-----------------
During our annual convention meetings I was staying in a lodge in Rapelli,Guntur District AP. From the balcony I just peeped down the street, here I saw two little girls dirty and barely clothed searching for food in the gutter waters of the lodge. This water was an open drainage for the entire street. Such was their hunger and desperate need; these girls were searching for something to eat in black gutter waters. To my anguish I saw one of the girls find a gooseberry from those dirty gutters. She just wiped it in her clothing and started to eat. Latter these children moved to a near by open trash can where there were some pigs searching for food. These girls also joined along with them searching something to eat. My heart was broken and burdened for these children. I enquired about them from the lodge manager and found out that they belong to a particular community called Yanadhi community. Immediately I sent my assistant to get more details of this community. I also personally went to the hamlets where they lived.

In twenty First century in modern era where India is marching towards great economical freedom this community people have never been to school. They live on the river banks and canals of Andhra. They hunt rats and fish for survival. The male folk plant coconut trees for rich landlords. They live in a very unhealthy and unhygienic situation. Pigs and people live together. And they are treated as untouchables in the community. Most of the children had sores and unhealed wounds in their body. Immediately we went village after village talking to the village heads to send their children to school. Some of the village heads refused to send them to school saying if their children went to school instead of catching rats it will be a curse on the community. We started a home with a passion for these children and to see their lives transformed, now there are more than 25 children in this home under the care OF US.

For the first time this children sleep on mats, have pillows, use tooth brushed, wear slippers, watch television, drink safe water, wear good clothes, go to school in dignity and above all get to know there is a loving Savoir behind. Please pray for this kids and our good work for the lord.Brothers and sisters Please tell to your friends and family about this home.We are looking up your prayer and kind visite with mercy help in christ.May the blessings of the lord be with you all allways Aman Aman Aman
Yours brotherly
in christ
